A family-run haulage, plant hire and recycling firm is teeing up for its first charity golf day in aid of a North East hospice.

Scott Bros, based in Haverton Hill near Stockton, recently became a corporate partner of Butterwick Hospice, which provides holistic care across Teesside and County Durham for children and adults with life-limiting illnesses.

On Friday, June 14, the firm is set to hold a fundraiser at Teesside Golf Club in support of the hospice. Across the day, attendees will take part in several side competitions including beat the scratch golfer, nearest the pin, and longest drive on the 18-hole course.

Scott Bros are now appealing for teams of four to sign up to participate in the charity golf day. A pre-game bacon sandwich and lunch are included in the ticket price, with an awards ceremony capping off the day.

Peter Scott, director of Scott Bros and captain of Teesside Golf Club, said: “We wanted to provide a day of friendly competition while also giving back to our community, and decided to hold Scott Bros’ first every golf day.

“Butterwick Hospice provides an incredible service, and we are proud to do our part in ensuring they can continue offering vital care. I urge everyone to form a team, participate, and make a difference.”

This is not the first fundraiser Scott Bros has fundraised in aid of the hospice. In the past, the firm has provided a Christmas tree recycling service as part of their annual fundraising initiatives as well as organising their Big Butterwick Bike Ride fundraiser. Scott Bros has also offered practical support to the hospice with their free skip service.

Director of income generation at Butterwick Hospice, Anne Cooling, added: “Seventy per cent of our funding is made up of public donations, which means we must raise £7,000 per day – so the ongoing support of individuals, organisations, and businesses, such as Scott Bros, is vital in enabling us to continue delivering the holistic palliative and supportive care to those in our community with life limiting conditions, their families and loved ones at what is such a very difficult time.”

The event takes place at Teesside Golf Club on Friday, June 14, at 10.30am. To register a team of four, call 01642 61516 or book online at https://visitors.brsgolf.com/teesside#/open-competitions/49/teesheet.

Participation costs £40 per person, or £30 for members of Teesside Golf Club.
