A North East museum will host a mini pride event to give families and people the opportunity to celebrate their individuality at the end of month.
LGBTQIA+ arts and youth charity, Curious Arts, will be holding their ‘Curious Takeover’ event at Kirkleatham Museum and Grounds in Redcar on May 31.
They added the day will be filled with fun and creative family activities – all hosted for free.
The event has been hosted at the museum for two years.
This year's event will see those attending encouraged to take part in activities celebrating the community’s culture and heritage.
The activities will be led by LGBTQIA+ artists, and include arts and crafts, workshops, inclusive story times, a dress-up station, rainbow face-painting, and a book hunt with the National Literacy Trust.
Creative Producer for Curious Arts, Ellie Puckering said “We can’t wait to be back at Kirkleatham Museum this month.
“After two years of wonderful Mini Prides, it's so exciting to be completely taking over the building together for the day.
“Inviting families to celebrate together, take part in fun, creative activities and experience the museum in a new light.
“Hope to see you there!”
Curious Arts has held events at Dorman Museum in Middlesbrough, York Art Gallery, Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens, Tyne & Wear Metro (Nexus), Darlington Hippodrome and Gosforth Civic Theatre in Newcastle.
Cllr Carrie Richardson, cabinet member for culture and climate, said: “This is a chance for families to get creative and enjoy themselves at an enjoyable, inclusive event at our wonderful Kirkleatham Museum. Why not join in the fun!”

Curious Takeover at Kirkleatham Museum and Grounds will run from 10am to 3pm on Friday May 31.
Admission to the museum is free and visitors are invited to drop in and take part.
The event is supported by Tees Valley Museums, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, Arts Council England and The National Literacy Trust.
