A home improvement retailer has opened a new store in a Durham retail park.

Wickes have confirmed they opened their new store in St Andrews Retail Park in Durham on Friday (May17).

The new branch was officially opened last week by the Mayor, Councillor Lesley Mavin, and Mayoress Mrs Trish Sutcliffe, along with cricketers from Durham County Cricket Club, bowlers Brandon Glover and Stanley McAlinton.

The new stores will offer a range of products for both trade professionals and customers looking to improve their homes.

Wickes Chief Property and Services Officer, Sarah Taitt, said: “As a digitally led, service-enabled retailer, we are thrilled to be opening a new Wickes store in Durham.

"The new store will offer residents of Durham and the surrounding areas a wide range of home improvement products, services, and expert advice from our knowledgeable staff, and we look forward to meeting our new customers”.

The store will feature a selection of new kitchens, and a bathroom selection centre.

Customers will also be able to make use of the Wickes’ free design service to get advice from the store’s design consultants.

The store also includes a paint mixing station, an outdoor project centre, five disabled parking spaces and three dedicated 30-minute click and collect spaces.

The new location will be offering customers a 15 per cent discount at checkout from the May 24 to May 26.

Wickes has also announced a partnership with Durham Women FC which will see the brand featured at the club’s Maiden Castle football pitch, as well as across its social media, throughout and ahead of next year’s Barclays Women’s Championship season.

The new store is located at Unit 6, St. Andrews Park, Dragon Lane, in Durham.

It will be open Monday to Friday, 7am to 8pm, Saturday 7am to 7pm, and Sunday 10am to 4pm.
