A new gym is set to open in a County Durham next month, providing nine new jobs.

PureGym Bishop Auckland will be opened next month by paralympian Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson. 

Located at the new Auckland Retail & Leisure Park, near Reel Cinema, Superbowl UK and The Range, the gym will be opened on June 3, at noon. 

The 11,000-square-foot facility will be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for members to use at their convenience.

Members of PureGym, the UK's largest gym operator, will have access to "flexible, affordable fitness". 

The gym will be declared officially open by Baroness Grey-Thompson DBE, multi-Paralympic gold winning medallist and County Durham local.

A spokesperson for the gym group has outlined that the gym will have: 
 

  • Hundreds of pieces of state-of-the-art equipment
  • A functional zone, free weights area, fixed resistance, cardio equipment and a fitness studio
  • A huge range of classes, all included within the membership price
  • Certified PTs to support clients and a free initial exercise induction
  • Free, onsite parking

The gym will provide nine jobs to the area, employing in the growing heath and fitness centre.
