Six injured and man, 19, arrested after Ford Fiesta crash in Wolviston

The 19-year-old driver was arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to provide a specimen.

It happened just after midnight on Sunday (April 21) morning when the blue Ford Fiesta Zetec crashed into a barn wall on Coal Lane in Wolviston, near Billingham.

Police believe the car was travelling from Wolvison village centre, up Durham Road and right onto Coal Lane before the collision happened.

All six occupants, four men and two women all in their late teens and early 20s, were taken to hospital with injuries including fractures.

One of the men also sustained spinal injuries.

An investigation into the crash is now underway.

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: “Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with footage as enquiries continue into a single vehicle collision in which six young people were seriously injured.

“Enquires into the circumstances of the collision are ongoing and we would appeal for anyone who can help with information or doorbell/dashcam or CCTV footage from along the route detailed above to contact Cleveland Police on the 101 number quoting ref 072323.”
