Police have said they are aware of reports of ‘suspicious activity’ near a County Durham school
Durham Police have said they have “several reports of concern” from the public around activity near Cestria Primary School in Chester-le-Street.
They have said this is being examined by officers.
They have said genuine incidents will be taken seriously and investigated thoroughly.
A Durham Police spokesperson said: “We are aware of rumours in circulation on social media about suspicious activity near to Cestria Primary School, in Chester-le-Street.
“We have received several reports of concerns by members of the public, and these are currently being examined by officers.

“As always, it is important to remain diligent to ensure that our children and loved ones remain safe and genuine incidents should be reported to the police and will be taken seriously and investigated thoroughly.
“We would urge members of the public to report directly to us so we can take the appropriate action where required.
“This can be done by calling Durham Constabulary on 101, or 999 in an emergency.”
