A Durham logistics firm has invested £700,000 in new vehicles, including trailers, tractor units, rigid trucks, and vans, to support an ambitious growth plan.
Family-run Logistics North East, which is based in Chester-Le-Street, has also become the latest member of Pallet-Track, the experts in palletised distribution whose hub has handled over 43 million pallets.
Logistics North East will cover the NE31 to NE36 and SR1 to SR6 postcodes on behalf of the pallet network and currently handles approximately 1,000 pallets per day.
The company employs a team of 80 and is also a member of the Hazchem Network and APC parcel network.
Lisa Johnson, office general manager at Logistics North East, said: “Our decision to join Pallet-Track was driven by our growth strategy, as we want to further enhance our coverage and range of services.
“As a family-owned business, it is important to us that we provide a dedicated service for our customers and offer a full portfolio of logistics services, and our Pallet-Track membership will enable us to do this with enhanced IT offerings, including full traceability on pallets.”
Stuart Godman, CEO at Pallet-Track, said: “The addition of Logistics North East to the Pallet-Track network will further enhance our coverage and growth in the region, while improving efficiency for our customers.
“Logistics North East’s approach perfectly aligns with our commitment to our customers, and their membership will strengthen our network.”
Logistics North East is the fifth new member to join Pallet-Track in 2024. The Midlands-based network launched in 2004 with 46 members and handled 852 pallets during its first night of operation; it now moves over 3.9m pallets per year.
