Police discovered a huge £400 haul of suspected stolen goods in a car including, booze, chocolate and kids’ toys in their second find in two days.

Officers in Barnard Castle on Thursday (April 11) identified the vehicle they believed had been used in three separate shoplifting crimes.

When they opened the car they found the large haul of suspected stolen items worth more than £400.

Pictures show the cans of deodorant, 13 bars of Cadbury chocolate, alcohol including seven bottles of Kraken Rum, children’s toys and beauty products among the find.

A woman in her 40s was arrested on suspicion of theft, handling stolen goods, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and driving without insurance.

She was released in bail pending further investigation.

It was the second find in two days after man was arrested on suspicion of multiple shoplifting offences on Wednesday.

More than £200 worth of food, alcohol and washing up liquid had been taken from shops in Barnard Castle.

Tony Deehan,44, of Galgate, Barnard Castle appeared before Magistrates on Thursday and admitted seven counts of shoplifting and possession of a bladed article.

He was bailed pending a fearing in June.
