The council have issued a warning as instances of fly-tipping increase in a County Durham area.

This comes after the council confirmed on Friday (April 12) building waste was found fly-tipped at Chilton Lodge in Fencehouses.

The closed down pub has previously been a target for vandalism and fly-tipping.

The council have appealed to anyone with information to assist them with their enquiries.

A Durham County Council spokesperson said: “We are seeing an increase in fly tipping incidents across the Chester le Street area of County Durham and we are asking for your help to identify those responsible.

“The most recent incident has occurred at Chilton Lodge in Fence Houses where building waste has been fly tipped.

“We are asking the public to come forward if you witnessed this incident take place or have any information that may assist with our enquires.
