Five drivers from County Durham have been fined in court this week for speeding and failing to give information relating to an incident. 

The drivers all appeared at Peterlee Magistrates' Court this week - and were fined, ordered to pay costs and all had points added to their licences.

We have pieced together several of the drivers who have appeared in court.

Five County Durham drivers fined in court this week:

Kane Dunn, 21, of Grasmere Terrace, South Hetton, Durham, admitted to using a motor vehicle on a road/public place without third-party insurance, namely a BMW 5 Series, on Mill Lane at Sherburn Village in County Durham on November 9, 2023.

A guilty plea was noted, and the defendant was fined £400, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £160 and court costs of £90.

He was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driver's licence for six months due to repeat offending. His driving record was endorsed with six penalty points.

Gary Bishoprick, 37, of Clarence Chare, Newton Aycliffe, Durham, was proven guilty of driving a motor vehicle, a Ford, otherwise than in accordance with a licence on Burnhill Way at Newton Aycliffe in County Durham on December 29, 2023.

He was also found guilty of using a motor vehicle on a road/public place without third-party insurance. He was fined £660, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £264, and court costs of £90 and his driving record was endorsed with eight points. 

Alan Hardy, 35, of Bruce Glazier Terrace, Shotton Colliery, Durham, failed to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a Fiat on September 6, 2023, 15/11/2023 at Easington when required.

He was fined £660, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £264 and court costs of £90. His driving record was endorsed with six points.

Emma Birch, 34, of Falmouth Drive, Darlington was proven guilty of speeding on Burtree Lane in Darlington on September 7, 2023, exceeding 30 miles per hour in an Audi.

She was fined £220, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £88 and court costs of £90. Her driving record was endorsed with three points. 

Robert Mellenthin, 55, from Souter Drive, Seaham, admitted to speeding on B1283, Hall Walks at Easington Village in the County of Durham on September 14, 2023, exceeding 30 miles per hour in a Peugeot.

A guilty plea was noted, and the defendant was fined £352, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £140 and court costs of £90. His driving record was endorsed with six points.
