A North East dad died five weeks after hitting a 'wall of snow' while skiing in France, an inquest has heard.
Ian Edge, 58, from Ingleby Barwick, was involved in a skiing accident in France on February 13 this year, which saw him collide with a big patch of snow while taking on a blue run trail.
An inquest held at Teesside Coroner's Court on Tuesday (April 9) heard that Mr Edge had been skiing when he was involved in the accident on the ski slopes.
At the time, the 58-year-old had been taken to hospital in France after suffering from a traumatic brain injury.
During the inquest on Tuesday, the assistant coroner of Teesside, Karin Welsh, recorded a short-form conclusion and ruled Mr Edge's death as an accident.
The inquest heard that after Mr Edge suffered a brain injury skiing in France, he was transported to James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough, where it was established that he wouldn't survive any further treatment.

He died at the North East hospital on March 26 this year.
Concluding the inquest, assistant coroner Welsh noted Mr Edge's traumatic brain and ruled his death an accident.
She also spoke of her condolences to his family, who attended Tuesday's inquest.
