A person has been taken to hospital following a medical incident on a North East road.
North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) have confirmed they were called to a medical incident on the A171 Birk Brow Road in Saltburn today (April 5).
They added they deployed two ambulance crews, one clinical team leader and were supported by Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS).
They confirmed they took one person to hospital.
A NEAS spokesperson said: "We were called to a medical incident today (5 April) on Birk Brow Road in Saltburn-by-the-sea at 5pm.
“We dispatched two ambulance crews, one clinical team leader and were supported by our colleagues at Great North Air Ambulance Service.
“One patient was taken to James Cook hospital."
This comes after the A171 was closed in both directions – with a medical incident and ‘fuel spillage’ reported.
Cleveland Police confirmed the road was closed in both directions due to a fuel spillage.

A GNAAS spokesperson confirmed a patient was taken to hospital following a cardiac arrest.
A GNAAS spokesperson said: “We were activated at 17:06 to patient in cardiac arrest.
“We arrived on scene at 17:21 before escorting the patient to hospital by road.”
