Despite the weather being changeable at the moment - we can't help but think forward to the middle of spring and the start of summer and the potential of sitting out in a beer garden.

While there's no guarantee that the weather will be good in June, July, August or September, we're hoping there will be a few good sunny days in spring/summer time.

In the UK, it seems like it only has to rise a little over 15 degrees and people flock to a beer garden.

As part of this, we threw the question out to our reader about the best beer garden in the North East, and while there were the usual 'it's never sunny comments' - people did deliver some great recommendations.

Without further ado, here is what people said about the best beer gardens in the North East:

North East locals have named The Tyne Bar as the leading beer garden destination for enjoying a drink outdoors.

Despite the region's not-so-summery weather, many still fancy a pint al fresco, with the bar getting several mentions as a favourite spot after asking people their best spot for an outdoor drink.

Several other venues also received nods.

The Charles Attwood Club in Wolsingham got favourable mentions, whilst the Jolly Drovers in Leadgate also received a mention.

Other top picks include The Woodman Inn in Durham and The Grange Courtyard.

Despite the sensible picks, a few comments were left, including one person who captured the essence of British culture by saying: "Two days you get a bit of sun and another day, it's back down to three degrees - it's not swimming cossie weather."

Despite this sentiment, it seems many North East locals still yearn for the beer garden experience.
