A lamb has died after a barn fire at a farm near Darlington following a heat lamp falling on several hay bales on Thursday (April 4).

Emergency services were called to Manfield village at about 11.17pm, following reports of an agricultural fire in a barn containing livestock.

After arriving on the scene, fire crews from both Darlington and Richmond helped the farmers in removing animals from the area and dampening down the flames.
