Organisers of a County Durham car boot sale have praised the event's success weeks after it re-opened for its 2024 season.
Seaham’s weekly car boot sale has been declared a roaring success so far this year after it held its first sale of the year on March 23.
Crowds could be seen flocking to the sale on farm fields off the B1287 and even queued for entry with organisers Nobles Promotions now saying they are “happy” with the way the opening weekend went.
A spokesperson added: “We were lucky with the weather which is always a good thing. The car boot fair has been developed over 25 years and has gradually built into what it is now.
“We have a strong following of regular buyers and sellers plus people that attend on a casual basis over the season.
“The business is of course weather dependent and so the number of attendees does vary every week.
“The forecast can have a big impact on us, if it is bad people do not prepare by loading their cars etc and the worst thing is if the forecast turns out to be wrong and the expected rain or showers don’t arrive!”
From 10am, buyers who paid £5 for early entry were able to go inside and browse the stalls where sellers had everything from clothes, records, antiques, and curios up for grabs for bargain prices.

Pictures from the opening day showed happy customers perusing the stalls and interacting with sellers on the hunt for special finds.
Despite previous concerns from residents about traffic clogging up roads and verges during the event, no congestion could be seen, and cars were able to flow in and out of cordoned-off car parks.
The car boot sale will now take place every weekend for the foreseeable future and more details about the event can be found here.
