Reporter Darcie Rawlings visited Stanhope Railway Station to see all the activities going on at Weardale Railway this Easter weekend.

To celebrate the long weekend Weardale Railway have jazzed up their station with Easter decorations, and are encouraging families to visit their humble station to take part in their planned activities.

Ride the Train

As part of their Easter weekend celebrations Weardale Railway are allowing children to ride for £1 this easter. This weekend they are offering two routes from Stanhope to Wolsingham and Stanhope to Bishop Auckland.

Easter Bunny Scavenger Hunt

Perfect for young children there is also an Easter bunny scavenger hunt. A fun activity to get young minds thinking, the scavenger hunt makes sure to give plenty of clues to find the Easter bunnies, that all have lovely names.

The Story Train

The Story Train is also at Stanhope Station, where you can learn about the history of railway travel and also take part in bunny-puppet making and colouring in.

Platform 1 Café

A recent opening, visitors can also nip in to The Fifteas Tea Room's Platform 1 Café, serving up hot and cold drinks as well as something to eat if you are peckish.

Craft Market

The craft market on Platform 2 is looking especially festive this Easter weekend with a big blow-up bunny outside. Full of beautifully crafted items this is the perfect excuse to a little shop around.

Visitors can also pop into the Weardale Railway Trust shop and bring their decorated eggs along, to be judged Sunday, March, 31 at 2pm.

This is the perfect opportunity to make the most of any nice weather this weekend and enjoy some classic Easter fun.
