A total of 12 County Durham residents have appeared in court, charged with offences relating to litter this month.

The residents appeared in Newton Aycliffe Magistrates' Court and have been fined heavily for leaving litter and waste in their gardens. 

We have rounded up the five people who were in court with the offences:

  • Michael Wayne Turner, from John Street, South Moor has been prosecuted for failing to comply with a Community Protection Notice about waste in their garden. They now have a total of £726 in fines and costs to pay.
  • Roxanne Jackson, of Queen Street, Grange Villa has been prosecuted for failing to comply with a Community Protection Notice about waste in their garden. They now have a total of £598 in fines and costs to pay.
  • Raymond Hodgson, from Oak Crescent, Sacriston has been prosecuted for failing to comply with a Community Protection Notice about waste in their garden. They now have a total of £638 in fines and costs to pay.
  • Cheryl Gazzilli from Snowdon Court, Annfield Plain has been prosecuted for failing to comply with a Community Protection Notice about waste in their garden. They now have a total of £726 in fines and costs to pay.
  • Malcolm Cains, from Queen Street, Grange Villa has been prosecuted for failing to comply with a Community Protection Notice about waste in their garden. They now have a total of £598 in fines and costs to pay.
  • Dionne Cherry, of Murray Park, Stanley has been prosecuted for depositing litter. They were issued a Fixed Penalty Notice of £150 on 17/10/2023 however this was unpaid therefore a case file was prepared for the courts. They now have a total of £438 to pay for the offence.
  • George Allison, of Lilac Square, Bournmoor has been prosecuted for failing to comply with a Community Protection Notice in relation to waste in their garden. They now have a total of £726 in fines and costs to pay.
  • Jack Gleghorn, of Standerton Terrace, Stanley has been prosecuted for depositing litter. They were issued a Fixed Penalty Notice of £150 on 17/10/2023 however this was unpaid therefore a case file was prepared for the courts. They now have a total of £438 to pay for the offence.
  • Patrick Morgan, of Shakespeare Street, Jarrow has been prosecuted for vehicle abandonment in Hilda Terrace, Chester Le Street. They now have a total of £1354 to pay in fines and costs.
  • Rebecca Bage, of Beech Terrace, Eldon Lane, Bishop Auckland, has been prosecuted for failing to comply with a Community Protection Notice in relation to waste in their garden. They now have a total of £626 in fines and costs to pay.
  • Jack Fucile, of Kirkland Hill, Peterlee, has been prosecuted for failing to comply with a Community Protection Notice in relation to waste in their garden. They now have a total of £803 in fines and costs to pay.
  • IBN Holdings, of Durham Road, Bishop Auckland, has been prosecuted for failing to comply with a Community Protection Notice in relation to waste in their garden. They now have a total of £946 in fines and costs to pay.
