Five motorists have been named and fined in court after being caught speeding in County Durham.

The cases were heard at Peterlee Magistrates' Court.

Alan Carr, 31, of Moncrieff Terrace, Peterlee, was driving a Ford on August 24, 2023, on the B1404 Seaton Lane when he was caught exceeding the 30 miles per hour speed limit.

He pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay a fine and costs of £29. His licence was endorsed with three points.

Lee Firman, 36, of Hilltop Road, Bearpark, Durham, was driving a Yamaha at Watling Street, Leadgate, when he was caught exceeding the 30 mph speed limit on August 29, 2023.

He pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay a fine and costs of £258. His driving record was endorsed with six points.

David Graham, 36, of Pont Road, Consett, was driving a Volkswagen on the B6309 Watling Street when he was caught exceeding the speed limit of 30mph on August 29, 2023. 

He pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay a fine and costs of £322. His driving record was endorsed with three points. 

Ryan Johnston, 18, Kirtlebridge, Lockerbie was driving a Seat when he was caught exceeding the 70mph speed limit on the A66 at Bowes Moor on August 25, 2023.

He pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay a fine and costs of £233. His licence was endorsed with three points.
