A man has been arrested on drug charges after hiding from police in a loft in a property containing a cannabis farm.

The 24-year-old was arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis after police discovered his hiding place during a raid at a property on Cotswold Crescent in Billingham on Wednesday (March 20).

A team subsequently entered the building and dismantled the “well-organised cannabis farm” and seized the plants.

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: “Neighbourhood Teams in Billingham discovered a well-organised cannabis farm on Cotswold Crescent in the town yesterday, Wednesday March 20.

“Officers found a 24-year-old man hiding in the loft, who was subsequently arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis.

“A team then went into the premises to dismantle the farm and remove the plants. 

“This raid was a result of information provided to us by members of the public.
