North East residents can expect a change in weather patterns as the region experiences cloudy and rainy conditions today.
While some areas may have a dry and bright start, it will be short-lived as the rain is expected to spread eastward throughout the day, with some heavy downpours expected.
Furthermore, strong winds are expected to occur in hilly areas, adding to the already gloomy conditions. Temperatures are expected to remain around 12°C throughout the day.
As the day draws to a close, the rain is expected to clear southward, leaving all parts of the region relatively dry with clear spells developing overnight.
However, it will be a chilly night with patchy frost in sheltered areas. The winds will also be easing, providing some respite from the rough weather.
Moving on to Friday, the day is expected to start chilly with sunny spells and scattered showers.
Locally heavy showers are likely, and on the hills, they may even turn wintry. The windy conditions will persist, with gusty conditions expected in some areas. Temperatures are expected to remain around 10°C throughout the day.
The Met Office has advised people to stay vigilant and keep themselves updated on the changing weather conditions.
It is also advised to take necessary precautions to keep yourself warm and dry during these conditions.
