Multiple Wetherspoon pubs in a North East county have been revealed among the cheapest places in the UK for a pint.

Northumberland has been recognised as being one of the cheapest places to buy a pint of Carling, priced at £2.92.

It comes as new research conducted on behalf of Alt Index has found where exactly you can get the cheapest pints in the UK.

Price data was examined from every single Wetherspoon in the UK, excluding eight locations at airports, where average prices tend to be significantly higher than a regular branch of the chain.

The research looked at the price of a pint of Carling, one of the pub brand’s most popular pint offerings, and calculated the average price for each county/major city.

How many Wetherspoons are in Northumberland?

If you want to get your hands on one of the cheapest pints of Carling around, there are several Wetherspoon pubs to visit in Northumberland, according to the chain’s website.

The full list is as follows:

  • The Forum, Hexham
  • The Red Lion, Bedlington
  • Rohan Kanhai, Ashington
  • John the Clerk of Cramlington, Cramlington
  • The Electrical Wizard, Morpeth
  • The Wallo, Blyth

Alt Index also found as well as Northumberland, some of the other cheaper parts of the UK include Merseyside (£2.83) and Greater Manchester (£2.86).

But it’s Scottish pub goers who’ve got some of the cheapest pints around, with residents of five Scottish counties all able to get a Carling at an average price of just £2.63.

Meanwhile, it’s unsurprisingly inner London where the most expensive average pints lie, with the average pint of Carling setting you back over £2 more, at £4.76.

It’s one of only two locations in the UK with an average price higher than £4, with Scottish capital Edinburgh slipping just over the £4 mark at £4.03.

Other more expensive areas across the UK include Leeds, Birmingham, Highlands and East Sussex, with an average cost of more than £3.80.
