Six people have been arrested following an incident that saw police swarm a residential Middlesbrough street. 

Police received reports of people arriving in a vehicle "whilst possibly in possession of weapons," on Monday. 

Areas of Barrington Crescent, in Thorntree, were cordoned off for much of the day. 

A spokesperson from Cleveland Police said: "Police have made six arrests in connection with an incident reported on Barrington Crescent, Middlesbrough, on Monday (11th March).

"Around 12.55pm on Monday, officers received a report of occupants of a vehicle arriving at a property whilst possibly in possession of weapons.

"No one was harmed in the incident.

"Six men; two aged 23, three aged 32 and one aged 41, have been arrested and bailed whilst enquiries continue.

"Officers are continuing to carry out high visibility patrols and urge anyone who may have concerns or may have information to approach these officers or call Cleveland Police on 101.
