A TikToker from the North East has recently seen some of his videos go viral for filming himself hiding stacks of cash for people to find.

Known as The Money Game - Teesside (@themoneygameteesside), the creator has been uploading videos of himself stashing money in random places since April 2023.

Videos on the account show reams of cash which sometimes include £50 notes being hidden in bushes, car parks, on bridges and behind signs all for people to find.

So far, they've visited everywhere from Darlington, Newcastle, Middlesbrough and Saltburn as eager viewers request their town to be next in each comment section.

The creator, who wanted to keep their identity secret, explained that they began the account as a bit of fun before it blew up to now having more than 67,000 followers.

"I originally wanted to get Teesside talking, build a bit of excitement in the area and get people out of the house having mysterious fun", they said.

"I have no method to choosing my hiding spot locations, I see all of the comments on my videos and try to hit the more popular areas."

One of the most viewed videos from the account was filmed in Thornaby where a handful of £20 notes were placed above a sign followed by a panning shot giving seekers a chance to grab the cash.

However, the videos have drawn criticism.

Some commenters claim the money is simply "moved after filming" and it's all for show - but the creator has hit back at the 'haters' and recently uploaded a video of someone reportedly finding the money.

He said: "No this isn’t true - those comments will never go away because people simply can’t believe it and I understand that.

"I have received many messages and comments from people who have found the cash. I recently did a game in Darlington in which I waited for the winner to come and posted the video for evidence, to try to prove what I’m doing."

Despite this, they confirmed they are committed to keeping the account going and they are hoping to hide money in some highly requested cities.

They added: "I don’t have a schedule, I do this in my spare time and will continue to do so whenever I can. The reaction has been great and the games have gained a following of over 120,000 on all platforms.

"I do it because I can, it’s fun, weird and mysterious at the same time. It gets people talking and I’ve got plans to tour the UK later this year visiting some of the most popular requested locations."
