The most 'crime-hit' street in Darlington has been revealed in the most recent police data, with 42 crimes reported in January 2024 alone.

The crime data, which is released by central policing each month shows that East Row in Darlington had the most crime reports compared to any other part of the town, including Cockerton, Haughton, and the villages surrounding Darlington.

Within the data, violence and sexual offences had the highest reports with 15, with shoplifting (8) and anti-social behaviour (4) also ranking as some of the most common reported crimes in this area.

East Row, which stretches behind the back of the market, links Tubwell Row and is close to Bull Wynd, Feethams, and Bakehouse Hill.

While the figure of 42 reported crimes has been pinpointed on the police crime data map, the data also mentions that these crimes could have been committed in nearby streets and added to the crime stats as East Row.

Alongside this, on the police data website, the site adds: "This map uses data from local forces. The hotspots give only a loose idea of where crimes happened. Actual locations and details of crimes are kept anonymous.
