A total of 14 pubs in County Durham have been named the best in the region, according to a group of pub and bar experts.

The regional boozers, who are based across the region have all been commended by the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) group in Durham. 

Split into separate categories, each pub has been applauded in its own way, including best city pub, best town pub, best cider pub, and best pub and club.

The pubs have been sorted into each of the categories they have been commended in, according to CAMRA.

Each category has been sorted out into winners and runners-up, showing that each pub mentioned are some of the very best in County Durham.

Here are the pubs:

Best City Pub of the year

  • YeOld ElmTree (winner)
  • The Station House (runner up)
  • The Victoria, Durham (runner up)

Town Pub of the Year

  • The Grey Horse,  Consett (winner)
  • The Frog and Ferret, Spennymoor (runner up)
  • The Little Tap, Spennymoor (runner up)

Country winner Pubs of the Year

  • Surtees Arms & Yard of Ale Brew Co, Ferryhill Station (winner)
  • Beamish Mary Inn, No Place (runner up)
  • Black Lion, Wolsingham (runner up)
  •  Three Horseshoes, Leamside (runner up)

Cider Pub of the Year

  • The Station House, Durham (winner)
  • The Grey Horse, Consett (runner up)
  • The Holy GrAle, Durham (runner up)

Pub and Club of the Year

  • Tanfield Lea Working Mens' Club (winner)
  • Durham City RFC (runner up)
  • Chester Le Street Masonic Centre (runner up)
