A charity shop superstore will open its doors at a Darlington retail park today (Thursday, March 7).

At 10.30am, Cancer Research will open its new major shop at Yarm Road retail park - stocking a range of charity items.

In the build-up, the charity has been kitting out the unit, which includes accepting donations and arranging items for the grand opening.

The new store will sell items ranging from clothing, furniture, kitchen items, entertainment, things for pets, and much more.

In anticipation of the grand opening, people in Darlington have been getting excited for the arrival of the store.

The Yarm Road Retail Park already boasts Next, Tk Maxx, The Range, KFC, Costa and Home Bargains.

Alongside this new Cancer Research shop, the charity has several others nearby, including in Catterick, Newcastle, Sunderland and Redcar.

This charity shop becomes the second in as many months after The Butterwick Hospice opened on unit 6 of Bishop Auckland Retail Park on February 23.

The Butterwick Hospice store, which will open seven days a week, will sell items to aid donations to the charity, which operates across the North East.

For 40 years, Butterwick Hospice has supported local people and communities across the regions of Teesside and County Durham, providing holistic care for babies, children and adults living with a life-limiting illness, as well as support for their families and loved ones.

Alongside offering items for sale, furniture donations will be available to the Bishop Auckland store and house removals are also available, according to the charity, but contact has to be made directly with The Butterwick Hospice.
