​Five County Durham residents have appeared in court, charged with offences relating to litter. 

The five residents appeared in Newton Aycliffe Magistrates' Court and have been fined heavily for leaving litter and waste in their gardens. 

We have rounded up the five people who were in court with the offences - and were fined a total of £3000.

  • Michael Wayne Turner, from John Street, South Moor has been prosecuted for failing to comply with a Community Protection Notice about waste in their garden. They now have a total of £726 in fines and costs to pay.
  • Roxanne Jackson, of Queen Street, Grange Villa has been prosecuted for failing to comply with a Community Protection Notice about waste in their garden. They now have a total of £598 in fines and costs to pay.
  • Raymond Hodgson, from Oak Crescent, Sacriston has been prosecuted for failing to comply with a Community Protection Notice about waste in their garden. They now have a total of £638 in fines and costs to pay.
