The A19 northbound is currently closed before the Norton turn-off after a vehicle overturned and spilled its load on the road.
The police are warning drivers to avoid the area and attempt to find alternative routes if possible.

An AA spokesperson said: "Road closed and long delays due to rolled over vehicle on A19 Fleet Bridge Road Northbound from A1046 Haverton Hill Road (Portrack Interchange) to A139 Billingham Road (Norton Interchange)."
