Three injured after Nunthrope Bypass crash, Middlesbrough

One person had to be freed from a vehicle by firefighters after the incident on the Nunthorpe Bypass in Middlesbrough.

It happened shortly after 11am on Monday (February 26) morning and the road was closed for several hours.

Three people - two drivers and one passenger - suffered suspected neck, chest and back injuries and were treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital.

The circumstances of the crash are not yet known. 

A spokesperson for North East Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 11.13am today (February 26) to attend a road traffic collision near to the approach to Swans Corner roundabout in Nunthorpe.

“We dispatched two ambulance crews and treated three patients with suspected neck, chest and back injuries before taking them to hospital.”

A fire brigade spokesperson added: “We were called at 11.16am to RTC on Nunthorpe Bypass. Three fire engines in attendance from Coulby Newham, Middlesbrough, and Stockton. It was a four vehicle RTC. One person extricated and three casualties taken to hospital.”
