Darlington's Dog Trust is appealing to the town's dog-lovers to open their homes (and their hearts) to several four-legged friends seeking their permanent residence.
Dogs Trust Darlington have plenty of rescue dogs looking for a forever home this month.
We have compiled a list of seven pups hoping to bring some light into their new owner's lives.
Max
Among them is Max, a Belgian Shepherd Dog (Malinois) between 1-2 years of age.
Known for his boundless enthusiasm, intelligence, and fun nature, Max is certainly a bundle of joy.
He prefers an adult-only home with no other pets, making him "a wonderful addition to a quieter household", said a person familiar with his story.
Mia
Another striking canine is Mia, a gorgeous German Shepherd Dog of 2-5 years.
Described as a "super clever" dog by her handlers, Mia enjoys showing off her tricks for a tasty treat and has proven to be friendly to all staff at the centre.
The dogs trust has expressed a desire for Mia to join a family that can provide opportunities for mind-engaging training and adventures.
Biscuit
Also pleading for a stable home is Biscuit, a 5-7 year-old Chihuahua (Smooth Coat). A perfect addition to a quiet house, Biscuit favours a slow and gentle approach to building his confidence, and also designated safe spaces that he can call his own.
He has a particular attraction to toys and loves his playtime, making him an endearing companion for older teenagers (16+).One for the more energetic and adventurous adopters.
Lenny
Lenny, a Collie (Border) Cross, is just 6-12 months old.
This young pup requires a family dedicated to his training and able to accompany him on "quieter walks where he can explore to his heart's content".
Koda
For families browsing for Siberian Huskies, 1-2 year-old Koda might be the perfect match.
Known for his energy, fun personality, and his love for playing fetch, he is expected to settle best with a family that can stay around him most of the time.
Kira
Another youngster waiting for her forever home is Kira.
At 6-12 months, this Belgian Shepherd Dog Cross seeks an active family who likes walks close to home and "predictable routine".
She also lives well with another dog.

Loki
Finally, we have Loki, a 5-7 years old Siberian Husky who seeks an adult-only home.
He presents an opportunity for the family able to take the time to work on his social skills and meet his needs for exercise and mental stimulation.
Loki brings a backstory of hardship, and his one requirement is stability and a forever home.
Remember that by adopting a loving pet from Darlington Dogs Trust, not only do you gain an appreciative and trusting companion, but you'll also give these wonderful doggies the love, security, and the forever homes they truly deserve.
The Dogs Trust emphasises that applying for a dog "is not a reservation but a guide for us to find you a match".
