Seven drivers have appeared in court over the last week for driving offences - including speeding, having no insurance and failing to identify who was driving the vehicle.

We have rounded up all seven cases, including the fines and penalty points each driver received.

Ryan Louis Hoggart, 40, of Kepwick Close, Middlesbrough, was caught driving his Ford at over double the speed limit on the A66 Teesside Park in Stockton, where the speed limit is just 50 mph.

Hoggart committed this offence on June 10 2023 and was ordered via a guilty single justice procedure to appear at the Teesside Magistrates' Court on February 8, 2024.

Alongside his fine, Hoggart was also ordered to pay £85 in court costs, and a £138 victim surcharge.

His driving record was endorsed with 6 points, taking into account his guilty plea.

Cleveland Magistrates' Court has imposed a collection order on him, and he must pay £100 a month starting from March 30.

A Durham resident has been fined £100 for exceeding a 50 mph speed limit on the A66 Trunk Road.

Emma Atterton, 35, from Nursery Gardens, Easington, Durham, pleaded guilty to driving her Nissan over the speed limit on June 10, 2023.

The speed violation occurred on a stretch of the A66 in Middlesbrough (Trunk Road). 

She has now been fined for going over the 50mph limit.

Atterton appeared at the Teesside Magistrates' Court on February 8, 2024, where she was ordered to pay her fine by March 7, 2024.

The court also endorsed her driving record with three points.

Joshua Dylan Brown, 30, from Willow Grove, Hartlepool, pleaded guilty to driving his Renault Captur on Hart Lane, Hartlepool on June 17, 2023, without insurance.

Brown appeared at Teesside Magistrates' Court on February 8, 2024, and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £92 and costs of £85, alongside his £230 fine. 

Brown's driving record was endorsed with six penalty points.

A 35-year-old woman has been fined for exceeding a local 50mph speed limit by 20mph on the A66 motorway.

Lyndsey Brown, 35, of Streatlam Road, Darlington, was fined £533 and had her driving record endorsed with four penalty points after going over 50mph on the A66 in Middlesbrough.

The incident occurred on June 10, 2023, near Teesside Park, Stockton.

Brown was found guilty on February 8, 2024, at Teesside Magistrates' Court.

In addition to the fine, Brown was ordered to pay a £213 victim surcharge and £110 in costs.

A Newcastle resident has been fined for exceeding the speed limit and failing to identify the offending driver.

Rebecca Cole, 25, of Elder Grove, Newcastle drove over the speed limit on a restricted road, Myton Way in Stockton, and failed to comply with the requirements to identify who was driving the vehicle during a period from June 12 to July 17, 2023.

During an appearance at Teesside Magistrates' Court, Cole pleaded guilty to the offences on January 17, 2024, relating to the Mercedes she was driving.

The court fined her £76 and added three points to her driving licence.

She was also ordered to pay a £30 victim surcharge and £85 in costs.

A Durham resident has been fined £160 and given four penalty points for exceeding the speed limit on the A689.

Tom Hibbitts, 49, of Chipchase Close, Durham, pleaded guilty to driving his Audi over the 50 mph speed limit on the A689 Wynyard.

The offence took place on June 11, 2023, and Hibbitts appeared at Teesside Magistrates' Court on February 8, 2024.

He was ordered to pay a £64 victim surcharge and £85 in costs, resulting in an overall sum of £309.

A Middlesbrough man has been penalised for flouting a speed limit by 30 mph on a bypass.

Haroon Hussain, 31, was caught driving at 80 mph on the A174 Lazenby Bypass in Redcar, which has a maximum speed limit is 50 mph.

Clocked by traffic enforcement on June 14, 2023, Hussain was handed a £440 fine during his hearing at Teesside Magistrates' Court on February 8, 2024.

He additionally received six penalty points on his driving record, as well as having to pay a  £176 victim surcharge and £85 in costs.
