A popular County Durham gastropub has been featured yet again on the Michelin Guide.

A spokesperson for The Bay Horse in Hurworth, near Darlington, said they were “proud” to have been listed on this year’s guide.

The eatery has been recognised with many awards since it opened in 2008, including the Michelin Bib Gourmand and Gastropub Chef of the Year accolades.

It has also featured in The Times top 50 gastropubs and The Mail on Sunday's top 50 Sunday Lunches in the UK.

Speaking on featuring in Michelin’s guide again, the gastropub said they were “Very proud to announce that we are featured in the Michelin Guide again this year.

“Massive thank you to our amazing team for their hard work and dedication, our wonderful customers for their continuous support, and to Michelin Guide for recognising us again.”

The venue also received Living North's 'Pub of the Year' award in 2019.

Michelin Guide praised the eatery for its “ambitious modern dishes” and “lovely” garden and terrace area.

A spokesperson for Michelin Guide said: “The jewel in the crown of this smart 15C coaching inn is its lovely garden and terrace – closely followed by its caramelised rice pudding!

“Ambitious modern dishes are made up of many elements and service comes courtesy of a smart, structured team.”
