Two men have appeared in court following multiple alleged assaults and burglaries in a County Durham village over the weekend.
One man was taken to hospital with "significant injuries" following a series of incidents in Ushaw Moor, near Durham, on Sunday morning.
Officers responded to reports of a disturbance in the Station Road area, of Ushaw Moor, at about 5.40am on Sunday, February 4, where damage had been caused to a business premises.
A Durham Police spokesperson said: "Darren Waugh and Stephen Morton, of Station Road, Ushaw Moor, were both arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault and burglary.
"A man in his 30s was taken to hospital where he received treatment for significant injuries to his head and chest.
"In custody, Waugh was further arrested on suspicion of two counts of assaulting a police officer."

Following interview, 35-year-old Morton was later charged with Section 18 wounding with intent, and two counts of burglary.
The 40-year-old Waugh was charged with Section 18 wounding with intent, two counts of burglary, two counts of assaulting a police officer, and attempted robbery.
Appearing at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Monday, February 5), both men were remanded into custody to appear at Durham Crown Court next month.
