A person has been taken to hospital following a crash which led to a road closure in a County Durham village this afternoon (Thursday, February 1).
Emergency services were alerted to the collision in Witton Gilbert, near Durham City, shortly after 4.30pm.
Police and ambulance crews attended the scene on B6312, close to its junction with the A691.
Paramedics treated the person before transporting them to hospital.
A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of a road traffic collision on the junction of the A691 and the B6312 in Witton Gilbert at 16:35 this afternoon (1 February).

"We dispatched one ambulance crew and a rapid response paramedic, and transported one patient to the University Hospital of North Durham for further treatment."
The AA is reporting heavy traffic in the area.
