A man is in hospital in a serious condition after he was hit by a car next to an A1(M) junction.

Emergency services were called to the A690 near Carville on Tuesday (January 30), at about 9pm following reports of a road traffic collision.

After attending the scene, the road was closed for several hours to allow the police and ambulance service to work at the scene.
