Dragons’ Den recently arrived back on our TV screens for its 21st series and County Durham’s very own Sara Davies is just one of the Dragons who has returned.

The 39-year-old businesswoman from Coundon joined the Den in 2019 when she was just 35 and at the time she was the youngest-ever Dragon (which is now Steven Bartlett).

So far, the "TV crafting queen" has pledged to invest over £2 million in the Den.

Speaking about being on the BBC programme, Sara told Country Living about her "instinctive empathy" for budding businesses, saying: "When they walk through the door, my heart goes out to them.

"They're often so nervous they can't get their words out. I sit there giving them encouraging smiles."

She also appeared on Strictly Come Dancing back in 2021 with professional dancing partner Aljaž Škorjanec, but they were eliminated in week eight after a dance-off with Tilly Ramsay and Nikita Kuzmin.

Last year, Sara also took part in the Great North Run to raise money for the County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust Charity, an organisation which is close to her heart.

Aside from what she has been up to lately, let’s find out about her net worth and how she made her current fortune.

How did Sara Davies on Dragons’ Den make her money?

Sara founded her company Crafters Companion in 2005 whilst she was studying at the University of York.

The BBC explained: “Spotting a gap in the market for an envelope-making tool for card makers, Sara invented one! With the help of her engineer Dad she got a local joiner to make them in MDF, and crafters bought them in their thousands, catapulting her business to success.”

It added: “Sara’s company now turns over £34 million a year and employs more than 200 staff in UK, the US and across Europe.

“She is the recipient of over 25 business awards and in 2016 was recognised for services to the economy with an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list.”

Her “big break” reportedly came when she designed and marketed her “ground-breaking product” The Enveloper.

“It sold more than 8,000 in the first 24 of hours of the product being debuted on shopping channel Ideal World,” according to The Sun.

“When Sara graduated with her first-class honours degree, she already had a business with a turnover of over half a million pounds.”

How much is Sara Davies from Dragons’ Den worth?

Currently, Sara’s net worth is thought to be around £37 million which she has earned through her crafting company and numerous TV appearances.

Is Sara Davies still married?

The County Durham entrepreneur has been married to her husband Simon Davies since 2007.

The pair who first met as teenagers are now parents to two boys, Oliver and Charlie, and currently still live in the North East.

Looking back at her fond childhood memories in Coundon, Sara told Country Living: "It probably sounds really dull, but I loved walking to this hamlet with my friends and looking down into the valley.

"We had this amazing view of Newton Cap Viaduct. It was spectacular."
