Dog lovers looking for a new best friend will be happy to learn there are dozens of dogs up for adoption in Darlington.
Dogs Trust Darlington has plenty of rescue dogs looking for a forever home this month.
We have compiled a list of seven pups hoping to bring some light into their new owner's lives.
Priscilla and Jess, Shih Tzus
These inseparable pups come as a package deal and are seeking their forever home together.
The centre has said the duo love nothing more than snuggling up on a comfy spot and spending time with their person.
They would prefer to be the only pets in the home as they can get a little nervous around other canines.
A spokesperson for the Trust said: “Percilla and Jess are such a sweet little duo that will make perfect companions for a family that enjoys cosying up to their pooches and enjoying all the snuggles.”
Mouse, American Bulldog cross
Mouse has been described by staff at the centre as a “fun, bubbly girl” who will make a fantastic companion for anyone she bonds with.
The centre has said she would prefer a quiet area that will not have too many dogs walking past the house.
They added this pup can live with secondary school-aged children who can respect her space when she needs it.
A Trust spokesperson said: “Mouse loves her toys, and they really bring out her playful side.
“She can break out into zoomies while having toy time so would be beneficial for her to have a secure garden to have play time in.
“Mouse is a real sweetheart who will make such a lovely addition to a loving home.”
Jasper, Spaniel
This canine is looking for a calm environment with a spacious garden to enjoy playtime.
He would prefer to live with older teens aged 16 and over.
They said he may have walking pals pending slow introductions.
The centre said: “Jasper is a lovely, lively lad who enjoys keeping busy. He loves to explore out on walks and can put his nose to work with search games.
“Playtimes are great fun even more so when water is involved! His love of food will help with training which he’d like to continue with his family.”
Ludo, Great Dane cross
This lovely lad is on the search for his forever home and is fine to share his home with another dog.
He can live with secondary school-aged children who are 14 and over.
Staff at the centre have said the best way to get around Ludo is to exploit his love for food.
They said: “Ludo is a fun 8 year old Great Dane cross who loves to play with toys but can sometimes be reluctant to relinquish them so swaps will need to be done while playing.
“As he is a big lad, he can be strong on lead so would benefit from having some loose lead training.
“Ludo is looking for a family that will give him the love and affection that he deserves.”
Lola, Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross
Staff have said a quiet home will suit Lola best as she looks for her forever family.
Her new family will be asked by the centre to visit her a few times at the centre prior to adoption.
They believe living with another dog may also help boost Lola’s confidence.
They said: “Lola has had a sheltered life so can find the big wide world overwhelming. Giving her time and space for her to come out of her shell you will be rewarded with seeing her playful nature.
“Chasing a ball is one of her favourite games. Lola is a fan of high-value treats which is a great way to start up a budding friendship and aid her ongoing training.
“With patient owners and the right set-up, we are sure Lola will thrive and it is going to be such a reward watching her blossom.”

Blake, Patterdale Terrier
This old lad is looking for the perfect retirement home to live out the rest of his years.
The centre believes he is fine to be left alone and noted his fondness for a nap.
They said: “Blake is a really lovely boy who adores receiving all the attention and having a snuggle on the sofa.
“Although a senior chap, he's still up for a walk in quieter areas followed by a game of tug in the garden.
“Blake is a fan of his treats which will be good for furthering his skills.”
