The North East could be covered in dust from the Sahara again after the Met Office warned of a ‘plume of Saharan dust’ making its way to the country.
The forecaster said southerly winds will bring some of the dust to the UK this weekend.
It has told residents to keep an eye out for dust deposits on cars this evening with any coming rain.

They said: “This amazing image captures a plume of Saharan dust moving out of Africa and into the Atlantic.
“Some of this dust will make it's way towards us over the coming days.
“Southerly winds will push some of the dust towards the UK later this weekend.

“Watch out for enhanced sunsets and sunrises. Perhaps some dust deposits on cars with any passing rain.”
This comes four months after the region saw its last dusting of Saharan sands as residents woke up shocked to see their cars blanketed.
Car owners at the time were warned not to rub or brush the powder off with their hands or a cloth to avoid superficial damage to their vehicles.
