Today we name four people who have been convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol in County Durham and Darlington.

They all appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court and Peterlee Magistrates' Court this month (January) where they pleaded guilty to driving a vehicle with an alcohol level above the legal limit.

Jessica Brown, 32, of Temple Gardens Consett, drove a Nissan Juke at the namely McDonalds Restaurant car park, Genesis Way, after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in her breath was 69 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath on Tuesday January 2.

She pleaded guilty and was disqualified from driving for 12 months and ordered to pay a fine and costs of £715.

Christopher Readshaw, 37, of Honeywood Gardens, Darlington, drove his Isuzu D Max on Parkside, in Darlington, after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in his breath was 124 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, on December 30, 2023.

He pleaded guilty and was disqualifief from driving for 48 months and ordered to pay a fine and costs of £1,323.

Hayley Clennell, 42, of Lilac Way, Toft Hill, drove a Seat Leon in Albert Street, Crook, after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in her blood was 197 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood, on May 18.

She changed her plea to guilty and was disqualified from driving for 20 months and ordered to pay a fine and costs of £799.

Jack Tenwick, 29, of Firthmoor Crescent, Darlington drove a Ford Transit on Duke Street, Darlington, after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in his breath was 76 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, on December 23, 2023.

He pleaded guilty and was disqualified from driving for 40 months and ordered to pay a fine and costs of £253.
