A man has been arrested in Middlesbrough after seeming to try to drive into people standing at a bus stop.

The incident happened at the junction between Marton Road and Regent Road on January 20.

The 35-year-old man was driving a blue BMW Coupe and he was later arrested.

He has since been released on conditional bail while the investigation continues.

The police are appealing to any witnesses of the incident to come forward.

A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: "Officers investigating an incident which saw a car appearing to be intentionally driven into pedestrians at a bus stop, are appealing for witnesses.

"The incident happened at around 3pm on Saturday 20 January 2024 on the junction of Marton Road and Regent Road.

"The vehicle involved was a blue BMW Coupe.

"A 35-year-old-man was later arrested in connection with the incident. He has been released on conditional bail while enquiries continue.
