Two people have been seriously injured and a driver has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving following a collision on the A64 on Friday (January 19). 

The crash happened on the A64 west of Malton, at the bottom of Golden Hill, near Huttons Ambo at about 11.55pm and involved a silver Jaguar and blue Ford Focus.

A head-on collision occurred and both drivers suffered serious injuries.

One driver, a man in his 30s, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink driving and is assisting police with the investigation.

The stretch of road has been closed since the crash and will remain closed until around midday today (Saturday, January 20).

Following the crash, North Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses and information - with officers asking drivers to use alternative routes. with diversions in place.
