A well-known County Durham restaurant has announced it has closed its doors for the last time as new operators prepare to re-vamp part of the venue.
The Ranch Meat House on Stockton Road, Seaham, announced the news on social media yesterday (January 2) to its 27,000 followers.
Known for its wide menu of American-style burgers, fries as well as traditional Sunday dinner, the venue also holds a function room which is used for parties and weddings.
A statement on Facebook reads: "The Ranch would like to thank all its customers over the years but unfortunately we’ve made the decision to close the doors for the last time.
"The main building will be turned into something else, however, the function room on the side will remain open for bookings and is being taken over by an experienced operator who is going to put their own touch on things and improve it."
Whilst the restaurant section of the venue is closing, the building will not be abandoned and has been taken over by new owners who aim to re-open with a new look in February.

The 130-person function room will also remain open for use, but what is known as the venue's "side extension" will be upgraded and turned into a cocktail lounge, according to a spokesman from The Ranch.
More detailed plans are set to be revealed in the coming weeks.
