One person has been taken to hospital following an 'incident' on a North East road this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to Brenda Road in Hartlepool shortly after 3pm today following reports of an incident.

Traffic according to AA maps was slow in the area at the time of the incident, as motorists faced small delays.

Following the response, the North East Ambulance Service has confirmed one person was taken to hospital by road.

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to an incident on Brenda Road, Hartlepool today (22 December) at 15:21.

"We dispatched one ambulance crew and took one patient to North Tees Hospital."

Cleveland Police has been contacted for more information.
