A County Durham taxi driver has been heavily fined after pooing in the street.

The taxi driver appeared at Peterlee Magistrates' Court earlier this week, where he was fined £846. 

The incident, which happened in Stanley, saw the driver poo outside a business - leaving behind his waste on the path with a stream of toilet roll.

After the incident, Neighbourhood Wardens offered a Fixed Penalty Notice of £150, however, he failed to pay so a case file was prepared for the courts.

The male now has a total of £846 in fines and costs to pay.

This incident comes after a Darlington woman was fined heavily after she was caught defecating in the doorway of a shop by council wardens earlier this year. 

Catrina Holland was seen defecating on Brentnall Street in Middlesbrough by a Council Neighbourhood Safety Warden in June this year.

She was issued with a £25 Fixed Penalty Notice on the spot which went unpaid.

Holland, of Montrose Street, Darlington, was subsequently found in breach of the town’s TS1 Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) when the case was heard in her absence at Teesside Magistrates’ Court.

The 50-year-old was fined £220 with an £88 victim surcharge and ordered to pay court costs of £200.
