A man has been charged after pig’s head was nailed to the door of a North East pub.
Police received a report of suspicious activity at the Coach and Horses on Durham Road in Birtley, near Chester-le-Street, at 6.45am on Saturday August 12.
It was reported that a vehicle had pulled up outside the premises and two pigs’ heads were left at the scene.

One of the heads was nailed to the front door of the Coach and Horses and the other was attached to a road sign nearby.
Police immediately launched an investigation into the incident and a man was arrested.
Lennon Stewart, 20, of Turfside, Leam Lane Estate, Gateshead, has since been charged with a public order offence.
He is due to appear before South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court today (Wednesday).
