A man has been taken to hospital after sustaining head injuries after a crash in a North East town yesterday.

Cleveland Police confirmed a cyclist, 40, was taken to James Cook University Hospital following the collision on Riverside Road in Stockton shortly before 6pm on Monday (December 11).

North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) confirmed they deployed a paramedic crew and clinical team leader to the scene.

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: “A 40-year-old male cyclist was taken to James Cook University Hospital with suspected head injuries after a collision with a Mercedes Sprinter van on the A1046 Riverside Road in Stockton around 5.55pm on Monday,  December 11.

“The man remains in hospital whilst receiving treatment.”We were called at 5.55pm today (December 11) to reports of a road traffic collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian near to the Hilton Hotel and Princess of Wales Bridge in Stockton.

"We dispatched a paramedic crew and clinical team leader who treated one patient with a head injury before taking them to hospital."
