With that in mind, here are the Christmas opening times for a selection of shopping centres and retail parks so you don’t miss out on visiting your favourite shops over the festive period this year.
Christmas opening times 2023 for North East shopping centres
Metrocentre
Location: St. Michaels Way, Metrocentre, Gateshead, NE11 9YG
- Christmas Eve (Sunday, December 24): 11am-5pm
- Christmas Day (Monday, December 25): Closed
- Boxing Day (Tuesday, December 26): 10am-6pm
- Wednesday, December 27 until Friday, December 29: 9am-9pm
- New Year's Eve (Sunday, December 31): 11am-5pm
- New Year's Day (Monday, January 1): Retail closed but some restaurants and leisure facilities remain open. Please check with individual retailers for their opening times.
Normal opening hours resume on Tuesday, January 2 (9am - 9pm).
Dalton Park
Location: Church Street, Murton, Seaham, SR7 9HU
Late-night shopping starts at Dalton Park from December 18 until December 22 for any last-minute Christmas bits and bobs you may need.
The retail park will be open from 10am to 7pm every day.

- New Year’s Eve (Sunday, December 31): 10.30pm-4.30pm
- New Year’s Day (Monday, January 1): 9am-6pm
Normal opening hours will resume on Tuesday, January 2. Please note, some retailers may extend or reduce their opening hours for Christmas.

All retailers will be closed on Christmas Day (Monday, December 25).
