Summer flights are now available from Teesside after an airline provider announced its new weekly route.

Holidaymakers will now be able to get their trips booked in for next year’s summer holiday after TUI unveiled their flights on sale – including excursions to Dalaman, Turkey.

Teesside Airport said it experienced its busiest period since returning to public ownership in 2019 – with passenger numbers up 25% year-on-year.

TUI’s new route will fly to and from Teesside every Tuesday from May 28 until September 17 – with flights departing at 9.20am.

Sightseers will be able take in the beauty of Marmaris and Olu Deniz, as well as the scenic bays which adorn the south-western edge of Turkey.

Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen said: “The airport has enjoyed its best summer in almost 15 years thanks to the great selection of flights and destinations provided by TUI, Ryanair, KLM and Balkan Holidays.

“But we want next year to be even better, with the return of Dalaman and a great choice of destinations on sale now – and going quickly.

“It means families from Teesside and beyond can book their flights while knowing they’ll be enjoying a smooth stress-free start to their well-earned holiday.

Adding to this, the airline will offer two flights a week to Majorca, running from May 7 to October 22, which provides connections to Marella Cruises.

The airport said Ryanair will also be putting its flights from Teesside on sale.

They said it will provide 14 weekly flights for holidaymakers to Alicante, Corfu, Faro and Majorca.

Planes will depart from Teesside to Majorca from March 31 to October 24, with Faro running from March 31 to October 23 – both operating twice a week. A once-a-week flight to Corfu will run from June 1 to September 28, while the airline’s twice-weekly year-round flights to Alicante will continue.

These join the three-times daily KLM flight to Amsterdam Schiphol, plus Balkan Holidays’ service to Bourgas, Bulgaria – this will begin from May 26 and run to September 8.

The flight announcement comes after Teesside Airport was named UK and Irish Airport of the Year.
