Strictly Come Dancing fans were amazed by Annabel Croft and Johannes's "stunning" routine to Defying Gravity from the West End musical Wicked.

The stars scored the highest judges' marks for a foxtrot in the season so far much to the surprise of Annabel.

The former professional tennis player and television presenter went all the way, donning green face paint and the witch's black outfit.

The dance was a hit with fans despite judges giving it 33 points, behind Ellie Leach and Vito's 36 and Layton Williams's 40.

Fans of the show were left emotional and praised the routine by Annabel Croft and her professional dancer with one user writing: "Pure greeting at Johannes and Annabel omg so beautiful."

Others were left speechless with one user adding: "Wow wow wow…. I have no words."

A third fan said: "A Wicked foxtrot and a beautiful one too! Annabel and Johannes always make me cry. I have been changed for good!!"

This comes amid the show's Musicals Special in which the celebrity contestants and their professional counterparts entertain judges with their musical-themed routines.

This also comes after Nigel Harman withdrew from Strictly Come Dancing unexpectedly after sustaining an injury.

This happened just hours before tonight's show, marking a shaky start to week 11 for the BBC programme.

Speaking of the EastEnders star's sad departure, a BBC spokesperson said: "Unfortunately Nigel has sustained an injury which means he is unable to perform in tonight’s show and has had to withdraw from Strictly."

Strictly Come Dancing continues on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
