Six County Durham drivers fined in court for speeding

The cases were heard at Peterlee Magistrates' Court.

They are: 

• Liam Jones, 23, of Longridge, Hillcrest, Durham - On April 28, 2023, at Easington Village he drove a motor vehicle, namely a BMW, on the C151 Stockton Road, at a speed exceeding 30 miles per hour. He was fined £220, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £88 and costs of £90 - totalling £398. 
• Kris Coates, 32, of Woodward Road, Spennymoor - On May 2, 2023, at Ferryhill, he drove a motor vehicle, namely a Citroen, on the A167 (A167 Ferryhill to Blind Lane interchange, Chester-le-Street) at a speed exceeding 40 miles per hour. He was fined £220, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £88 and costs of £90 - totalling £398. 
• Nathan Peter Durkin, 32, of Blenkin Way, Spennymoor - On May 10, 2023, at Spennymoor, he drove a motor vehicle, namely a Mitsubishi, on the B6288 North Road at a speed exceeding 30 miles per hour.  He was fined £440, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £176 and costs of £90 - totalling £706. 
• Declan Harry Medcalf, 21, of Grinstead Way, County Durham - On December 9, 2022, he drove a Volkswagen Golf on the A690 West Rainton, at a speed exceeding 50 miles per hour. He was fined £292, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £117, and costs of £110 - totalling £519. 
• David Butler, 42, of Poplar Street, Chester-Le-Street - On August 9, 2023, at Spennymoor, having been required by or on behalf of the Chief Officer of Police for Durham Constabulary, failed to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle, namely a Vauxhall. He was fined £660, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £264, and costs of £90 - totalling £1014. 
• Anthony Rutherford, 50, Lingholme, Chester-Le-Street - On March 17, 2023 he drove a motor vehicle, namely a Ford Transit on the A1(M) J61 Bowburn to J60 Bradbury, at a speed exceeding 70 miles per hour. He was fined £138, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £55, and costs of £110 - totalling £303.
